E-waste is the fastest growing waste stream on the planet. With the proliferation of devices and billions more expected to be generated by mobility/cloud/Internet-of-Things trends, it is clear this is a challenge that that will continue for many years to come. Compounding this is the complexity surrounding recycling electronics: multiple certifications, EH&S issues, local/state/country level regulations, transboundary movement, and more.

Most electronics recyclers handle disassembly and shredding of material they receive. That generates multiple material commodity streams in an unrefined form. Those commodities are then sent to a downstream partner for refinement and resale. Recyclers commonly have dozens of these downstreams they send this material to and every kilogram of that material has to be tracked and accounted for all the way to final disposition.

TES works with our clients to simplify this landscape. For most material streams we are a closed-loop solution meaning the plastics, metals, and other commodity streams are processed and refined in a TES facility by TES employees. We have compliance expertise in all 20+ countries we operate in which allows us to effectively navigate the patchwork of local and international legislation that continues to evolve.

TES is one of the few companies in the world with the permits required to transport this material across country borders when that is the best outcome for our clients and the planet. And we can do all of this as a single-source solution consistently across the largest global footprint in our industry.

  • In-house disassembly of IT equipment to the circuit board or component level.

    • Investments in equipment like crushers, shredders, CRT hot wire cutters, hammer mills, electrostatic separators, de-toner machines, and more.

  • A proprietary hydrometallurgical metals recovery process which yields higher commodities recovery while minimising pollution.

    • Process that includes extraction, electrolysis, and acid dissolution.

  • Environmental pollutant controls for waste dust, water, and fumes.

    • Investments in industrial dust collectors, waste water treatment plants, and scrubber systems.

  • Vertically integrated chain-of-custody through ownership of the entire downstream recycling process.

  • Maximised recovery of raw commodities and materials for reuse.
