The GDPR goes into effect on May 25, 2018 creating a harmonized data protection law framework across the EU and extends the scope of the EU data protection law to all foreign companies processing data of EU residents. It is designed to protect an individual’s right to control the use of their personal data and will apply to a wide range of personal data.
