What I do
I drive the sustainability and advocacy initiatives and reporting across the group that helps TES meet its vision and mission. These initiatives include actions on reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, promoting the use and adoption of renewable energy, achieving zero waste to landfill ambitions, corporate social responsibility engagement, supporting a transparent and responsible supply chain, and advocating TES’s and general e-waste recycling industry position at the Basel Convention.

How did you get to work for TES?
A chance to catch up with TES founders Adrian Tan and Terence Ng led me to establish the Australia and New Zealand operation in 2006. I suppose they saw something in me that they felt they could trust even though I had no experience in the industry.
Tell us an interesting fact about you.
I come from a musical family; although I am not that good, I do enjoy writing songs.
What is your favorite film?
I do not have one, but I have watched many times the Sound of Music, Crazy Rich Asians (being Singaporean), and the Godfather Trilogy. Two others that stand out for me are Catch Me If You Can and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
What is your favorite saying?
A little bit of ah huh and a whole lot of yeah.
What do you like about working for TES?
I have been fortunate to have been in a position to help TES transform from an e-waste recycler in Asia to a global IT lifecycle services business. There is a sense of pride in having had a hand assisting the company pivot to become a circular economy leader in our space. Many ITADs and recyclers have come and gone over the years, whereas TES has gone from strength to strength.
What does it mean to you to work for an organization which is sustaining tomorrow?
Being front and center of the effort to drive sustainability within the group, I know I have support at all levels. Sustainability is enshrined in our vision and evolving. It’s great to see us moving beyond short-term goals to adopting triple bottom line approaches that consider broader considerations such as climate risks which affect everyone. The work of the last 16 years has provided a profound sense of Purpose to realize that I could make a difference in the company, customers, and future society. If I wasn’t working for TES, I am unsure what else I could have done to make a meaningful impact. I am truly grateful that Terence and Adrian gave me that opportunity.
